What's the justification for this? The CRTC seems to be a government regulatory body... I can't fathom why this is in their interests. Have they been lobbied by ISPs to push this?

Obviously this is a issue. I live in Norway, and we don't have this as an issue, it's completely legal to download here, as much as you want. But I know it's not a nice thing being limited like this, by sertant people who feel like they need to 'controll the masses'. My boyfriend lives in Denmark, and you can't download there, so I know how it is.

I think it's a serious issue, and shouldn't be taken lightly. I don't know what's up with all this logging of what people do, and use their internet for. Politicans are freaking out cause we're downloading. Because you know, downloading a program is just like going out in the real world hijacking a car!

Instead of saying he's QQing about it, go away. Seriously. You guys are just sheeps who can't stand up for yourself when you don't agree to something the government does. It's called being weak.

I do agree this really is a bad thing for any gov to impose on anyone, especially when you like going to video sites like youtube or listen to online radio. Instead of just crying about it, best things you can really do about it is to get in contact with any elected official, such as a state representative. So far I got "official" concerns about it, but at least it's a note they take seriously once they have enough of them on the same subject.

The other route is getting community awareness such as threads like this. What would it be for free speech if everyone was pulling a "meh" attitude towards these topics while powers outside our control were making moves and nobody said anything against it?

While I can understand it sucks about your country having these rules imposed on you, you'd understand that it's a better priority to focus on uplifting them for your freedoms rather then trying to drag other nations to join on your misery, hence what I posted earlier. There's only one "right" direction on this matter and you'd be a fool to think otherwise.

this type of stuff is absurd. Why do idiotic governmental people want to force everyone back into the stone age? It won't be long now before everyone is always connected to the net, limiting downloads will be ridiculous.
